Our circular economy model

Eco Scandic is the first company in the Nordic countries focused on refrigerant regeneration, meaning recycling refrigerants to like-new condition. Our mission is to provide sustainable circular economy solutions that enable customers to maximize the use of their resources by extending the lifecycle of refrigeration systems while simultaneously reducing emissions.

How refrigerant reclamation works

Step 1: Recovery

We deliver recovery cylinders to your selected location in the Nordics free of charge. Fill the cylinders and request collection when they are ready.

Step 2: Analysis and Reclamation

The recovery cylinders are delivered to our facility in Helsinki, where the refrigerant is analyzed and recyclable refrigerant is reclaimed to like-new quality.

Step 3: Quality Control

After reclamation, the quality is verified in our laboratory in strict accordance with AHRI-700 quality protocols.

Step 4: Compensation or buy-back

Once the refrigerant is certified, an official quality certificate is issued. You can either get a compensation or purchase it back as reclaimed refrigerant.

Step 5: Repeat

With our circular economy model, you avoid expensive destruction fees, minimize CO₂ emissions and generate value from recovered refrigerants.

Licensed operations and competence

Eco Scandic Oy holds permits for the handling of hazardous chemicals. Our operations are covered by an environmental permit and approved End-of-Waste criteria, which can be found under the company name in the Regional State Administrative Agency’s information service. We are ISO 9001 certified, and our environmental management system is certified according to ISO 14001:2015 and EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). Our EMAS registration number is FI-000061. We are members of the Finnish Refrigeration Enterprises Association (SKLL) and the Swedish Refrigeration & Heat Pump Association (SKVP). Our company is also registered in the waste management register and with the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes).

We operate a laboratory unique in the Nordic region that enables comprehensive determination of refrigerant quality. The laboratory allows refrigerant analysis in accordance with AHRI-700 and ISO 11650-1999 standards, as recommended by SFS-EN-378-4. Refrigerants are reclaimed using patented equipment compliant with the AHRI-740 standard. We continuously develop our expertise and improve our environmental management practices.
