Reclaimed refrigerants

Eco Scandic

The reclaimed refrigerants we supply are recovered as raw material from across the Nordic region and reclaimed to virgin-grade quality in Helsinki in accordance with AHRI-700 and ISO 11650:1999 standards.

Our reclaimed refrigerants have a carbon footprint more than
40 times lower
that of equivalent virgin refrigerants.

Nearly all refrigerants can be reclaimed. Refrigerant reclamation means processing recovered refrigerant to restore it to virgin-grade quality. A refrigerant can be classified as reclaimed once it has undergone a purification process using equipment compliant with AHRI-740 and ISO 11650 standards, followed by laboratory analysis confirming that the reclaimed refrigerant meets the AHRI-700 quality standard.

We are committed to the European Fluorocarbons Technical Committee (EFCTC) programme.

The use of virgin refrigerants with high GWP has been significantly restricted since 2020. An exception applies to reclaimed refrigerants, which can be used until the end of 2031.

Natural resources are limited, and their continuous extraction creates significant emissions and environmental impacts. Although reclaimed refrigerants have the same GWP as their virgin equivalents, the carbon footprint generated during their production (per kilogram) is significantly lower compared to manufacturing new refrigerants.

How can we help?

Eco Scandic is the first company in the Nordic region focused on refrigerant reclamation, restoring refrigerants to virgin-grade quality through advanced recycling.

Our mission is to provide sustainable circular economy solutions that help customers maximize the value of their resources by extending the lifecycle of refrigeration systems while reducing emissions.
